Tuesday Swag: A Weekly Self-Care Journey

Why Tuesday?
"One day, on a Tuesday, a picture of my late granddaughter Chanel popped up on my phone. I started crying for about 10 minutes thinking about her, and spent most of the rest of the day looking at her photo and feeling sad. Eventually, though, I realized I had to snap out of that sadness. I looked in the mirror said to myself, 'OMG: I need pull myself together!'"
"I took a nice, long, hot shower, then put on makeup and dressed myself up. I treated myself to a movie and dinner out. Afterward, I felt much better. I wanted to keep feeling better every Tuesday going forward - and wanted to help others feel better too."

"Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen." -Brene Brown

Tuesday Swag: How It Works

-
Dress Up: put on an outfit that makes you feel good. Whether it's your favorite dress, a cozy sweater, or something that brings back fond memories, dressing up can uplift your mood and set a positive tone for the day.
-
Engage in Self-Care: Participate in activities that promote self-care. This can include anything from taking a relaxing bath, practicing mindfulness and meditation, reading a favorite book, or even engaging in light exercise.
-
Join Our Community: connect with others through our Zoom support groups or social media channels. Share your experiences, self-care tips, and offer support to one another. Together, we create a safe and nurturing space for healing.
At Grand'Ma Healing Swag, we understand the profound impact of grief and loss, especially for mothers and grandmothers who have lost loved ones to gun violence. To support our community, we dedicate Tuesdays to self-care and healing.
Every Tuesday, we encourage our members to dress up and engage in various self-care activities designed to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. These activities provide a structured way to focus on personal well-being, offering a sense of routine and normalcy during difficult times.
Grief can be overwhelming, and it's essential to take time for yourself. Join us every Tuesday as we come together to dress up, take care of ourselves, and support each other on this journey of healing. Remember, you are not alone, and we are here to walk this path with you.
What Does Self-Care Look Like?

Self-Care means self-love. Learning to practice self-love, though, can sometimes feel like using a butter knife to chop down a tall forest of trees. Here are some ways we've found to make self-love a little easier:
-
Make time for yourself. It may feel impossible to do, but it's a must! Even 10 to 15 minutes a day for you and you alone is better than nothing.
-
Get to know your emotions. Self-love means paying attention to your feelings.
-
Meditation. A daily mindfulness practice comes with many emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits.
-
Say something nice to yourself in the mirror everyday at least once a day.
